Happy 50th Eve To Me

Eating Chocolate Like A Boss!

Today is a big day folks! I am happy to report that it is in fact my Birthday, but not just any birthday. Today I am 49. Do you know what this means? This is my last chance to do A L L of the things I set out to do in my forties. I had plans…dreams to fulfill, exotic vacations to take, health goals to conquer, career moves to make and bank accounts to fill. Um, I think a big fat F-it is in order right about now.

Look at 1 year-old Lisa over there without a care in the world, other than mastering the consumption of that Hershey Kiss. I am happy to report this mission has indeed been accomplished, actually mastered.

This year I’ve decided to celebrate my big day with the same vigor. Who cares if that chocolate will be replaced with red lipstick applied during a drunken stupor as I sing Show Tunes, it’s still vigorous. The party hat and dress will remain the same. Hey, when you’re dangling on the cusp of the BIG FIVE-O, these sorts of things are to be expected.

So, now I have 364 days before slamming into the next decade that is patiently waiting for my arrival. I’m not making any promises folks,we’re going to take this one day at time to ensure a pleasant entry into the 50’s. My good friend Seal, who just happens to share my birthday, says it best for me.

Cheers to leaving my baggage behind, getting on-board and having faith to just … Enjoy the Ride!

  2. Happy birthday from a fellow cusp dangler. I’m planning to make every day of this year count – this may or may not involve Hershey Kisses. I’m seeing opportunity all over that big 5-0 hump and I hope you do too, Lisa. Tackle the coming year with all the individuality you can muster. It’s time to herald your arrival :). Have a wonderful day xx

  8. A very happy birthday to you Lisa!! You are still such a baby! Last Monday was mine and let’s just say I am on a very slippery slope to my 60’s still about two years away, but my, it is pretty slippery this end of the big 5-0’s!!! Hope your day is filled with not only kisses, both the chocolate and real kind, but also everything your heart desires! Have a great day my friend and don’t worry, the 50’s have been very good to me… DAF

  10. I hope you enjoy your birthday. I remember the 40th and 50th…. it was a blast. Parent-teacher conferences and I had to go, because I am the teacher. For fifty, it was conferences from 8-3 and then 4.30 unti 8.00, I was exhasuted when I got home. We celebrated on 11/11 with cake and dinner out. I hope you fare better! good luck with the last day of the forties!

  21. What a fun and clever way to express your thoughts about crossing into the next decade! 🙂 You paint a clear and colorful picture of how you plan to celebrate! What a sweet childhood picture of enjoying chocolates too. Happy Birthday! P.S. Many years ago I wrote an e-book called, ‘Driving Through Life With The Top Down’ which I have since expanded on and turned into, ‘The Right Relationship Starts with You.’ Therefore, when I saw your wordpress name, I was instantly drawn to it.

    1. Thank you for the happy wishes. That is so funny and ironic that it turned into “The Right Relationship Starts With You” because the reason I came up with the title was due to my husband coming home with a convertible/mid-life crisis. The arrival stemmed things in me that I had been ignoring for years, which is why I started to blog. I needed some way to heal the relationship with myself. Unbelievable!

That is my favorite picture of myself as a child…not that there are many photos since all the film in the try-state area was used on my sister before I arrived.

  26. Lisa, what is nice about getting to this age, is you can choose more what you want to do and who you want to spend time with. Don’t suffer the fools longer than you must. A friend of mine put it more succinctly, I don’t have to give a shit about some things. Have fun on the younger side of 50. It will be a great year. BTG
