Happy 50th Eve To Me

Eating Chocolate Like A Boss!

Today is a big day folks! I am happy to report that it is in fact my Birthday, but not just any birthday. Today I am 49. Do you know what this means? This is my last chance to do A L L of the things I set out to do in my forties. I had plans…dreams to fulfill, exotic vacations to take, health goals to conquer, career moves to make and bank accounts to fill. Um, I think a big fat F-it is in order right about now.

Look at 1 year-old Lisa over there without a care in the world, other than mastering the consumption of that Hershey Kiss. I am happy to report this mission has indeed been accomplished, actually mastered.

This year I’ve decided to celebrate my big day with the same vigor. Who cares if that chocolate will be replaced with red lipstick applied during a drunken stupor as I sing Show Tunes, it’s still vigorous. The party hat and dress will remain the same. Hey, when you’re dangling on the cusp of the BIG FIVE-O, these sorts of things are to be expected.

So, now I have 364 days before slamming into the next decade that is patiently waiting for my arrival. I’m not making any promises folks,we’re going to take this one day at time to ensure a pleasant entry into the 50’s. My good friend Seal, who just happens to share my birthday, says it best for me.

Cheers to leaving my baggage behind, getting on-board and having faith to just … Enjoy the Ride!

    1. Hahaha! I know right…I am cracking up just thinking about signing drunken show tunes.

  2. Happy birthday from a fellow cusp dangler. I’m planning to make every day of this year count – this may or may not involve Hershey Kisses. I’m seeing opportunity all over that big 5-0 hump and I hope you do too, Lisa. Tackle the coming year with all the individuality you can muster. It’s time to herald your arrival :). Have a wonderful day xx

Last Monday was mine and let’s just say I am on a very slippery slope to my 60’s still about two years away, but my, it is pretty slippery this end of the big 5-0’s!!! Hope your day is filled with not only kisses, both the chocolate and real kind, but also everything your heart desires! 10. I hope you enjoy your birthday. I remember the 40th and 50th…. it was a blast. Parent-teacher conferences and I had to go, because I am the teacher. For fifty, it was conferences from 8-3 and then 4.30 unti 8.00, I was exhasuted when I got home. We celebrated on 11/11 with cake and dinner out. I hope you fare better! good luck with the last day of the forties!

    1. Thank you Clay! I was changing infant diapers on my 30th and my 40th was a blast. Today has been just wonderful so far!
For the record..it’s criminal for the school to schedule conferences on your birthday!

  11. Wow… talk about obsessing… Happy Birthday, Lisa!

  12. Happy birthday, Lisa! I feel sad for you because everyone knows that once you turn fifty, your life is pretty much over. LOL. Definitely not true, as one in her mid sixties can attest to! Have a great day.

    1. Hahaha…I know that seems to be the word out on the street! Thank you for your wishes!

  13. The year I turned 50 was the best year of my life. I say embrace it and be all that you can be.

  15. Happy Birthday Lisa! I am well into the 50’s & still enjoying it! Good luck with your list.

    1. Thank you! The list would be so easy if I would just hit the lottery already…jeez.

  16. Lisa, Happy 49th and 51 more happy and healthy more. When I hit 49 I got drunk, same for 50. Sober for 60. Didn’t want to miss too much more.

    1. Thank you Tom! I am slurring after 1 drink..such a cheap date so I rarely indulge which surprises most people…lol

  17. Good reminder to cherish every day to the fullest, and live with intention!

  18. Happy Birthday Lisa! I’m not too far behind you and coming in at 46 (yikes!) this year. For some reason this post made me think of a quote: Age is a number and mine is unlisted. ~ Unknown

    1. Thank you Penny! That is certainly a great quote : )

      1. Thought it might give you a chuckle for the day 🙂

  19. Happy Birthday and from one who slid over that hump a couple years ago, it’s A-ok!!

  20. Wow I have chills…I was prepared to make a crack here but then you posted my all time favorite song…I have it by Eva Cassidy on my IPOd…much love into your 50’s you are a light shining and making us all happy with your words…I am throwing the party next year for you!

  21. What a fun and clever way to express your thoughts about crossing into the next decade! 🙂 You paint a clear and colorful picture of how you plan to celebrate! What a sweet childhood picture of enjoying chocolates too. Happy Birthday! P.S. Many years ago I wrote an e-book called, ‘Driving Through Life With The Top Down’ which I have since expanded on and turned into, ‘The Right Relationship Starts with You.’ Therefore, when I saw your wordpress name, I was instantly drawn to it.

    1. Thank you for the happy wishes. That is so funny and ironic that it turned into “The Right Relationship Starts With You” because the reason I came up with the title was due to my husband coming home with a convertible/mid-life crisis. The arrival stemmed things in me that I had been ignoring for years, which is why I started to blog. I needed some way to heal the relationship with myself. Unbelievable!

  22. ciao! happy birthday and may your star shine bright on you.
    enjoy this now.

  23. Happy Birthday! 49 is still young. Heck, 50 is the new 30 nowadays!

  24. Happy belated birthday, Lisa! May 49 be fabulous!

  25. I’m so sorry I missed your birthday. I’m behind on my reading. Some health stuff going on. You were so cute with chocolate all over your face. I have visions of a party…your intimates all sitting around your dining room table while Chester makes a toast. Am I close?

    1. Hahahaha….you wouldn’t believe it if I told you. I am on a health roller coaster as well and lord knows I want OFF.
That is my favorite picture of myself as a child…not that there are many photos since all the film in the try-state area was used on my sister before I arrived.

  26. Lisa, what is nice about getting to this age, is you can choose more what you want to do and who you want to spend time with. Don’t suffer the fools longer than you must. A friend of mine put it more succinctly, I don’t have to give a shit about some things. Have fun on the younger side of 50. It will be a great year. BTG

  27. Enjoy your 49th while it lasts; the half-century club of which I am now a member awaits you! Cheers!
