2014 in review

Dear Lord WordPress must you remind me of the “SLUG” I’ve been all year with my dang Blog? It actually referred to me as a Slug. Of course you must, because you can. Your staff of creative geniuses have clearly been working like minions to provide all of us with these annual reports. Maybe I need a staff …

The one thing that really grabbed my attention this year is the amount of searches for Angel Wings and Quasi Moto or Quasimodo that brought folks over to Life With The Top Down. Weird as hell!

I would not think this was strange say around Halloween, but on a hot day in the middle of July why the hell are people searching for angel wings … it’s weird, but more weird is the fact that even more people were searching for Quasi Moto on a daily basis. Inquiring minds, like mine, need to know.

What does it all mean? I have a couple of thoughts ….

Was it actually a group of hunchbacks searching for a nice set wings to over the hump? Hint: Accessorizing a hump is not a good idea.

Could it be a group of people trying to bypass that whole “earning” your wings thing by taking the easy route and picking up a set on Amazon? You know who you are …

Well it’s done and over with at this point, and frankly this blogging “SLUG” is just glad that someone, even with their angel wing and hunchback fetishes, decided to swing by to … Enjoy the Ride!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,500 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

  1. If you read my report you wouldn’t feel like a slug anymore. You would be more like a lightening bolt. Have a great New Year.

  2. oh no girl, you are no SLUG and I can attest! ( never used that words before, hope it is right) When your write, you make people: smile, realize, happy, feel, laugh, think, and so much more. Some can write a blog a day and can’t reach such goals and yours are done unintentional. It is a talent, a craft and very genuine. I realize that no one actually thought you were a slug, but you need to know that we, your readers, think you are lightning fast when it comes to hitting us just right with your words!

  4. Coming from a city which annually crowns a Slug Queen, the moniker is an honor in my book. What? you have other things to do besides stare at a screen and write blogs? My top three most visited posts? Two about solving technical problems on iPhones, which is a laugh because yours truly has no business dispensing technical advice and a 2013 post about William Binney. What can we make of that? NOTHING. So keep on letting that wind blow through your hair. You are still one of the funniest writers out there, and funny has to find it’s own time. Happy New Year.

  6. I’d rather be compared to the Sydney Opera House than a New York subway train like my blog views were. Actually slugs hold a special place in my heart because they were my university’s mascot (go banana slugs!… really).

  7. I noticed the year end report, but hesitated to actually read it… I have been offline more than online this year… Life gets in the way, doesn’t it? Miss you and enjoyed this post. Here’s to a more productive year for both of us! That is, if we don’t get too distracted by other things, right? ❤ DAF
